OPEN TEAM TRYOUTS TO THE ISF 2018 GYMNASIADE

The Amateur Athletic Union of the US, Inc. has been named as the official representative to the International School Sports Federation (ISF).
The Amateur Athletic Union of the US, Inc. has been named as the official representative to the International School Sports Federation (ISF). The ISF is a member of SportAccord and is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as an international sports governing body for school sport. In May the ISF will be host the 2018 Gymnasiade in Morocco.
In order to ensure that the strongest team possible is sent to represent the United States at this competition, AAU Karate will be hosting open team tryouts open to all eligible karate-ka regardless of style, dojo, or federation affiliation. Tryouts will be hosted at the Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale from February 2nd through the 4th.
The karate portion of this event will be under the competition rules currently recognized by the IOC. Per the most recent bulletin release by the ISF:
To be eligible to compete at the karate portion of this event you must be born in: 2001, 2002, or 2003. Divisions are as follows:
Male Kata
Female Kata
Male Kumite: -55kg, -61kg, -68kg, -76kg, +76kg
Female Kumite: -48kg, -53kg, -59kg, 59kg
These tryouts are open to all karate-ka athletes born in 2001, 2002 or 2003 regardless of their style, Dojo, or Federation affiliation.
