Coaches' Education & Certification

Part of the process to become an AAU Coach is to pass an online exam (Click Here). To help you prepare for the exam, we have set up knowledge review sections (Click Here). 

Scores needed for Coaches:

• Administrative Coach:  75.0% to 84.9%​

• Technical Coach: 85% or better (must also have a Dan rank)

After passing your exam, please retain a copy of the certificate to be submitted with your registration for the AAU Karate National Championships and/or the AAU Junior Olympic Games. 

Administrative Coach Requirments

1. Active membership in the AAU

2. Have a working knowledge of the AAU and International Federations' rules

3. Maintain a current PCA (Positive Coaching Alliance) Certification - click here to take your test now. 

4. Pass the AAU Karate Coaches Certification (Click Here)

5. ​Wear the official AAU Karate Coaches Polo - Navy Blue for Administrative, to purchase (Click Here). 

Technical Coach Requirements
