Athletes, coaches, and officials are on their way to Las Vegas for the first of three 2023 AAU Karate Team Trials

LAS VEGAS (April 6, 2023) – AAU Karate is on the road to Las Vegas where athletes and coaches will bet on themselves to earn a spot on the AAU Karate National Team. This is the first of three open team trials for the AAU Karate Team with athletes traveling from all over the country to compete on the west coast.
The Flamingo Hotel will play host to the first of the 2023 AAU Karate Team Trials & Trainings. This event is open to all regardless, of experience, style, dojo or federation affiliation. The AAU Karate Team trials are open to advanced and intermediate karateka (athletes and coaches) interested in being a part of the AAU Karate Team competing at the 2023 WUKF World Championships and the 2023 ISF U15 Gymnasiade. Accompanying the Team Trials will be Team Trainings, to prepare athletes and get them into competition shape.
The 2023 WUKF World Championships will be taking place in Dundee, Scotland on July 13 – 16. If an athlete medaled in the advanced divisions at the 2022 AAU National Championship or the 2022 AAU Junior Olympic Games, they are in the team pool for the WUKF Championship. Participation in the team trainings to prepare for the WUKF team selection is encouraged.
The 2023 ISF U15 Gymnasiade are being held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil on August 19 – 27. The ISF U15 Gymnasiade Team will be selected from the Team Trials only. In order to be considered for this team athletes must participate in one of the team trials.
More than 100 competitors, coaches, and officials will make the trip to Las Vegas. Athletes from 18 different states will be represented: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Utah, and Washington.
AAU Karate will be holding two more team trials & trainings in the Midwest and east coast. The second AAU Karate Team Trials will be on April 16 in West Palm Beach, Florida. The third will be held in Chicago, Illinois on May 6. For more information on these events and important upcoming dates, visit aaukarate.org.
